Making a career, we all want it! But ultimately becoming really successful is not something everyone can do. There is simply no step-by-step plan for a quick career . There are, however, tricks to make career a little easier. We found out which 10 tips will help you on your way to a successful career!

Tip 1: Where am I now?
It is good to first see what you are currently doing. Although there is enough about your work in your job title and CV, it doesn’t hurt to take a few days to identify exactly what you actually do. First, check which main tasks you currently perform in your position and what you do next in your daily activities. Then look at how much you like it per task.

Tip 2: Where do I want to go?
If it is clear what you are doing now, you can look at what interests you and what you would like to do. This can be done by means of the list of tasks that you have made in tip 1. Even though it may seem like a waste of time, see this as an investigation into what your goal is in finding new work.

Tip 3: Keep developing yourself
Make sure you keep your knowledge of your field up to date. Do not be too cautious with your employer here. Come up with initiatives for courses you want to visit. This can include online courses, such as TED talks!

Tip 4: Does your CV match your cover letter?
It is important that when someone reads your cover letter, it matches your CV. When someone gets the impression that these fit together in terms of appearance and content, you show that you have been doing well with your “marketing”.

Tip 5: Prepare yourself with Linkedin
If you have clear where you want to apply, it is good to do a little preliminary research. Take a look at the Linkedin page of the company who works there. When people from your 1st circle of connections are employed by the company, you can ask him or her to tell you something about the company.

Tip 6: Google knows everything about you!
Before you can come for an interview, chances are that the company has Googled you. Be prepared for the questions that may arise from this. Google yourself and see what can be found about you, pay extra attention to things that can turn out negatively during a conversation.

Tip 7: Get to know your future colleagues
Are you about to take the job? Then it is good to get to know your colleagues. Ask the employer when you can meet your future team. After all, it is also good for your colleagues to get to know you.

Tip 8: What will my salary be?
First of all, it is important to make good agreements about your basic salary. Then also pay attention to any bonuses you may qualify for. This way you avoid running into any disappointments later on.

Tip 9: Stay healthy!
You spend a large part of the day at work. Nutrition during your working hours is therefore very decisive for your functioning. If you want to work fit and productive, healthy eating is very important. While making a career and eating healthy may seem like a tricky combination, it’s often easier than you think!

Tip 10: Get rid of the goal of “making a career”
Making a career in itself is a very unattractive and self-centered goal. Stop having to make a career and start wanting to deliver value. Find out how you can help someone else and make beautiful things. When you are a leader in what you care about, a career in this will come naturally.…
